Firefighters escort Hotshots' kids to school

PRESCOTT, AZ (AP) - The children of several of the Granite Mountain Hotshots killed June 30 by the Yarnell Hill Fire had company as they went to the first day of school.

The Daily Courier reported that firefighters from two Prescott-area fire departments escorted sons of Travis Carter and Andrew Ashcraft as they arrived at their respective elementary schools for Monday's first day of classes.

Prescott Fire Captain J.P. Vicente says it was humbling and an honor to be able to escort Ryder Ashcraft to his first day of school.
