Police lift lockdown on school

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - Police have lifted the temporary lockdown on four schools in the Yuma area.

Police say a School Resource Officer received a report of a man with a gun on his waistband possibly entering the cafeteria at Roosevelt Elementary School, located at 550 West 5th Street.

It happened at around 7:50 am this morning.

Police placed Fourth Avenue Junior High School Roosevelt Elementary School, Yuma High School and Carver Elementary School on lockdown.

All students were held in a certain classroom or location until campus was deemed safe.

Meanwhile, police searched the schools and the surrounding areas until they located the man.

Minutes later, police found the suspect in the area.  He did not have a gun, but had a cell phone in his waistband.

The man was not involved in any criminal activity.

Police then lifted the lockdowns, which lasted nearly an hour.
