Local high school teacher to be recognized at state level

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - A Gila Ridge High School math teacher has been named the Yuma County Rural Teacher of the Year.

Michelle Ann Smith oversees the math department at Gila Ridge High School and serves on both the Ready Now design team and the school leadership team.

Smith also tutors students who are struggling with math.

She will now go on to be recognized at the state level with a plaque and one hundred dollars.
