Deputies launch new effort to reduce prescription drug abuse

Posted:

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is kicking off an effort to reduce prescription drug abuse.

Deputies will have one drop-off box at their main station and one at the Foothills sub-station, where they will be accepting prescription drugs Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Liquid medications, like cough syrup, should be sealed in their original plastic container.

You may NOT drop off syringes or illegal substances like marijuana and methamphetamine.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office will check the drop-off boxes daily, and prepare all the unwanted medications for proper and eco-friendly disposal.
