Border Patrol agents rescue drowning immigrant

CALEXICO, Calif. (13 On Your Side) - Border Patrol agents at the El Centro Station successfully rescued an illegal alien from the dangerous currents of the All American Canal.

It happened at around 9:20 p.m., 10 miles west of Calexico, when a Border Patrol agent saw an illegal immigrant trying to swim across the All American Canal.

The man was only half way across the canal when he began to panic and yelled for help as he struggled to stay above water.

Agents deployed a rescue throw bag and pulled the man out of canal to safety.

They soon learned the man was a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States.  They transported him to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.
