Police warn of new scams on the rise in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – Police are warning Yuma residents about some new scams on the rise.

Police say scammers may pose as relatives or friends, calling or sending messages urging you to wire money.

Police say usually they will say they are in some sort of emergency and need help with something immediately, like getting out of jail.

The scammers hope to trick you into sending money before you realize its a scam.

Police say to always call your relative and confirm what is happening.

Never wire money to anyone unless you are sure its legitimate.
