Update: Fugitive transported to hospital after officer-involved shooting

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – Police reported an officer-involved shooting at about 1:30 pm this afternoon.

A U.S. Marshal and a Yuma police officer opened fire on the suspect after he tried to ram his vehicle into them.

The shooting took place at the Knight's Inn hotel, at 2730 South 4th Avenue.

Police say the suspect is a dangerous and violent gang member.

Police say U.S. Marshals called them for backup to help arrest the wanted fugitive.

The shooting took place shortly after.

One witness we spoke to claims he heard ten to twelve gun shots.

We should make it clear, police tell us the officers involved in the shooting were not injured.

They were not shot.

Right now, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call 78-CRIME to report a tip anonymously.
