Fugitive behind bars after being shot by officers

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - The fugitive shot and wounded by Yuma police and U.S. Marshals at the Knight's Inn last week is now behind bars.

Jesus Ibarra, 26, was booked into Yuma County Detention Center this afternoon on three outstanding warrants.

The officer-involved shooting happened Wednesday.

As 13 On Your Side previously reported, U.S. Marshals were at the Knight's Inn to arrest Ibarra when they called Yuma Police Department for backup.

Ibarra, who is a known violent gang member, encountered them in the parking lot and rammed a stolen car into law enforcement cars.

That's when he was shot and wounded.

Paramedics rushed Ibarra to the hospital, where he remained in serious but stable condition for several days until he was transferred to jail.

The shooting is still under investigation.
