San Luis police investigate kidnapping attempt


SAN LUIS, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - San Luis police are investigating a kidnapping attempt.

It happened on Wednesday at around 1:30 pm, near Zapata Street and Merrill Avenue.

Police say the child, an 11-year-old student, is safe.

The child tells police a man in a white minivan tried to convince her to get in his vehicle by telling her that her mother had sent him to pick her up.

The child then asked the man for the name of her mother.

He did not answer and drove away.

Police say the suspect is described as being between 40 and 50 years of age, with black hair, light brown skin.

He was last seen wearing sunglasses.

The suspect's car is described as being an older model white minivan with tinted windows and no license plate visible.

Anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Sergeant Sauceda with the San Luis Police Department at (928) 341-2420.
