YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – A homicide investigation is underway in Imperial Valley.

Investigators are releasing little information at this time, but they have identified the victim as 30-year-old David Navarro.

During a brief press conference this morning, Imperial County Sheriff's Deputies confirmed Navarro died of a gunshot wound.

They would not say where he was shot, if there were any other injuries, or if his death is gang-related.

Sources tell 13 On Your Side that Navarro was a known gang member.

His body was found near a barbed-wire fence on Scaroni Road in Calexico on Tuesday morning.

No other information is being released at this time, pending the investigation.

But deputies are asking for public's help.

Anyone with information is urged to call the sheriff's office.
