Two men electrocuted while setting up antenna at Telegraph Pass

Posted: Updated:

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – Two men are recovering after being electrocuted early this morning while setting up a radio communications antenna at Telegraph Pass.

It happened at around 5:00 am this morning, while it was still dark out.

Jim Bush and Dennis Knight tell deputies they couldn't see powerline wires overhead as they set up an antenna.

Bush and Knight, who are active members of the Yuma County Sheriff's Office's Search and Rescue team, tried moving the 40-foot antenna away once they realized how close they were to powerlines.

But they were electrocuted.

Bush was rushed to the hospital with burns to his hand and leg.

He is in stable condition.

Knight refused medical attention.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says both men were not involved in any sheriff's office event while they were at Telegraph Pass.
