Family, friends of teen who died of alcohol poisoning speak out

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – We begin with the life story of Jazmin Serrano. The 19-year-old died from severe alcohol poisoning last month.

While many questions such as why her friends didn't call 911, or how she ended up in the back seat of her car—remain unanswered.

But tonight, her family wants to remember Jazmin as their loved one.

Family and friends of Jazmin Serrano tell 13 On Your Side the same thing. That Jazmin was an incredible person, one who would make you laugh for no reason and one who would cheer you up if you were sad.

While their emotions are still raw, they just want to keep her memory alive.

Jazmin's aunt, Ale Santana is still shocked over the sudden death.

Holding back the tears, Santana says Jazmin had her entire life ahead of her.

"She was taking online classes preparing for pre-med," Santana said.

Her aunt says just like many other teens, Jazmin loved to shop, and was well-liked and had many friends.

"There was just not a single day when she wasn't laughing," Santana said. "She loved to smile."

For now, Santana wants to make sure Jazmin's life carries meaning, as she did while on this earth.

She hopes to now raise awareness about the danger of alcohol and the danger of drinking too much, unknowingly, at a young age.

Again, friends and family want Jazmin to be remembered for her smile and her charming personality.
