YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – Deputies arrested a man they believe tried to rob two women at gunpoint as they were on a walk late at night.

The two women tell deputies a man approached them at around 10:45 pm Monday night, near the 700 block of Vaughn Avenue.

The victims, whose names are not being released by the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, tell deputies the man threatened to kill them if they didn't hand over all of their money.

They say he held his hand over his pocket, indicating he had a weapon.

The women ran away and escaped unharmed.

When deputies arrived on scene, the victims gave a description of the suspect and say they saw him run toward a trailer.

Deputies arrested Gene Anaya, 49, of Yuma.

Anaya remains behind bars on $100,000 cash-only bond. He will be back in court December 2.
