Police offer advice for people in a robbery situation

Posted: Updated:

YUMA, AZ (13 On Your Side) - Over the past month there have been a string of convenience store robberies around town.

Most recently, one suspect - who police say - robbed three Circle Ks within 48 hours.

So, 13 on your side wanted to know - what people can do if they find themselves in a robbery situation.
Officer Joe Franklin, with the Yuma police department says, "whatever they ask you to do - do. there's nothing in that store worth more than your life."

Despite videos out on social media showing a person fighting back against a robber, Franklin says - it's best to just do as they say.
"if someone has a knife or a gun - by the time you think to react - they're already ready to act. so don't try and be a hero."

Franklin says, the one thing they do as of witnesses or victims is that they take a good look at the suspect.
"get us a good description. any identifying marks, tattoos, scars, special haircuts, clothing. if there's something that stands out. give us that. be as description as you can. "

Again - the suspect of the latest robbery is described as a black or Hispanic male weighing between 120 and 150 lbs in his early 20s.
He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white writing, dark jeans, dark vans shoes with white soles.

 Police say - he robbed a circle K on S. 4th Ave, on W. 1st St., and S. 8th avenue.
