LONDON, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

JewelStreet is pleased to announce that they are finalist in this year's UK Watch and Jewellery Awards for the Etailer of the Year - and have reached  £164,000  in  crowdfunding  in  30  days, significantly exceeding their target of £100,000 in 60 days.

The UK Jewellery Awards news once again shows that the UK's jewellery industry is giving the new website that enables designers and jewellery lovers to meet, a nod of endorsement.   Regarded by many as the most prestigious jewellery industry award, the UK Watch & Jewellery Awards will be announced on the 2nd July 2014 at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London.

"We  are  thrilled  to  be  a  finalist  for  the  Etailer  of  the  Year  Award" commented Rob Passmore, "it's a massive vote of confidence from the jewellery industry into the business and the approach that we have taken." JewelStreet, which enables designers to sell their work direct to the public and receive a full 75% of the retail price, has already attracted 250 jewellery designers and brands to open 'web boutiques' on JewelStreet.com.  Asked why he thought JewelStreet had been nominated, Passmore added "I think it's the marketplace model which gives our designers a much fairer % of the retail price combined with the initial reaction we have had from the public. People love to shop on trusted marketplaces and buy with confidence from smaller designers knowing that they are protected by our secure check out and guarantees."

The Award nomination coincides with the business smashing its funding target of Crowdcube.com, raising over £160,000 in 30 days and is now, what investors call, 'overfunding'. "We are thrilled with the investment community's reaction to JewelStreet and its proposition. We have set a cap of £200,000 on this round of investment which will enable us to develop the business further and create a stronger sales channel for our designers. "
