HB 2571 which was signed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer allows city entities to power to add abatement charges on top of restitution fees to those convicted of vandalism crimes which include graffiti linked crimes. During the last fiscal year it's been reported that the City of Yuma spent $117, 645 on graffiti abatement. The city however curves that cost by reusing paint collected at quarterly Hazardous Waste Collection events. But, now the city will tally up the costs used to cover the persons graffiti and can include supplies and labor.
