Fuel Tank Explodes at MCAS Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. - A fuel tank exploded on the runway at MCAS Yuma after falling off a plane.

The external fuel tank fell off an EA 6B Prowler as the plane took off Friday afternoon.

The tank, carrying 300 gallons of fuel, exploded upon hitting the runway.

No one was injured.

MCAS's Crash and Fire Rescue quickly put out the flames.

The military is currently investigating the cause of the incident.

The Prowler and crew are based in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
