Members of the Quartzsite Police Department inspired the Liberty Festival in honor of pPolice Chief Jeff Gilbert, Journalist Jennifer Jade Jones and the Town Mayor.

The event takes place tomorrow at 10 am at Quartzsite Town Hall.

The morning event will start off with a banner and flag march throughout town hall.

Followed by speeches,  live radio broadcasting and live entertainment.

There is no charge to attend this event.

The free of charges classes will take place september 9-10 and september 16-17 at the yuma community food bank located on 24th street.

Purpose of the cert training to prepare the community of future natural disasters and medical assistance.

yuma union high school district:

starting august 22, yuhsd will be surveying parent interest in forming a joint technical education district (jted), which purpose is to create more technical and career-oriented curriculum opportunities for high school students.

The jted survey is in both English and Spanish.   According to superintendent toni badone, the survey will be available to parents online for two weeks.   Parents can also pick up a paper survey at their children's school.

courageous journeys counseling and consulting services offers an outpatient recovery program for individuals who struggle with food addiction, emotional eating and eating disorders.   The food and feelings recovery program is a six-week program that begins tuesday, september 6.   For more information, contact troy love lcsw at 928-276-9535.

Yuma proving ground and marine corps air station are hosting a food drive to benefit the homeless and disabled vets.

The drive will run through august 31st and any canned or boxed foods are welcomed as well as eating utensils.

Donations are to be dropped of at yuma proving ground's post bowling alley and marine corps air station commissary.

open to all ages and skill levels. Rehearsals begin august 16th. Choir rehearses each tuesday from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at the castle dome middle school band room.

Yuma youth choir:

by audition only. Call shirley ehler at (928) 246-2452 for an audition time. Rehearsal schedules vary. Choir meets at either awc campus room mu 102 or desert sonora elementary in somerton. 2 sections available: section 1 open to anyone from 3rd grade through college age, for singers with little to no experience. Section 2 open to more experienced singers from middle school age through college.
